Happy New Year's Eve! 2016 was definitely a hard year for me with many new challenges and a lot of heartbreak. Even though I'm not sure how I feel about the idea of a "new year, new me", I am ready to welcome a metaphorical sentiment so that I can move on, and have a super big and adventurous 2017. Even though 2017 is just another tomorrow, there are definitely ways to make yourself feel like you are starting fresh. My favourite ways to do this include:
- Cleaning out your makeup collection - Throwing out broken or worn down makeup, or makeup you don't use, and cleaning your makeup storage and brushes (do this regularly).
- Cleaning out your closet - I swear I have a style crisis every month. Tomorrow I plan on cleaning out my closet by getting rid of clothes that don't fit me, I don't feel confident in, or I simply don't like anymore. There should be no guilt in a closet clean out! I'm making this year all about timeless pieces that I feel comfortable and confident in, that can be worn at school or on a day out.
- Cleaning out your socks and underwear drawers - You will be surprised what you find that doesn't fit, or you'll never, ever wear. Minimizing the amount of stuff you wear that doesn't fit or you simply don't like will change your life. Your drawers will be so much tidier, and you will feel less inclined to buy more (=wasting more)!
- Nothing starts a New Year off like a big glass of water and a fresh face mask. It's time to get stuff done!
As far as New Year's Resolutions go, I hope to drink more water, continue having a 4.0 GPA in school, switch from my go-to leggings to high waisted jeans when dressing for school, keep a clean space, have more fun, use more colour, and shift all negative people and energy out of my life.
Before the new year officially begins, I am celebrating what we have all been through and worked through with a few of my favourite people while wearing a beautiful velvet gown, and one of my favourite Art Deco inspired necklaces by The Pink Collar Life.
