October is here! As much as I love summer, I have to admit that October is the most fun of all of the months. I love autumn leaves, pumpkin pie, swing coats and of course, everything kitschy and spooky at this time of year. I already have two Halloween costumes in store for separate events! You might say I might get too excited for this season. My first somewhat-spooky purchase of the year is Pinup Girl Clothing's beautiful 1940's inspired Butterfly Dress in their exclusive Floral Spider Web print. This incredibly flattering and comfortable dress has made it so that I can wear fall silhouettes and prints while also wearing my favourite colours!
For those of you who haven't indulged in a dress by Pinup Girl Clothing, I highly recommend the Butterfly Dress as one of your first. Along with this pattern, it's also available in a butterfly print and plain fabrics. I often find that a lot of reproduction clothing brands have a lot of prints and materials that aren't authentically vintage-inspired or just go off in a completely different (and unnecessarily tacky) direction. Personally, when buying from reproduction brands, I try to stick with plain colours or vintage-inspired florals. Maybe I'm a vintage snob, but I try to only buy reproduction pieces where I can actually picture the print on a genuinely vintage dress. I, of course, love some modern prints, but I am not about to throw on a skull and cross bones printed dress. Brands like Pinup Girl Clothing, Trashy Diva, Bernie Dexter and more carry a wide range of vintage inspired and modern prints with something for everyone. I particularly love this print because it is based off a 1940's floral spider web dress design that is my #1 vintage unicorn. I will not rest until I find the original dress, but in the meantime, the Pinup Girl Clothing dress is a fantastic dupe.
