Hey! I just finished another semester of University and today is my birthday! You could say things are going super great. 2016 was a particularly tough year for me, but 2017 is making up for it with plenty of opportunities and exciting adventures ahead this summer. While I have said that this is predominately a fashion blog, I would like to begin embracing new styles and ideas, along with embracing big changes in my life. Read on to hear a summary of what's ahead for me this summer along with my feelings towards my life and my blog:
In March, I received the news that I am one of the recipients of the University of Lethbridge's Roloff Beny Foundation Photographic Award. This means that I was given a grant to travel to a place of my choosing to further explore my photography. I am so honoured and grateful for this opportunity, and in June I will be traveling to San Francisco. I can not wait to share so many photos and blog posts from my travels with you. If you have any photo spots in San Francisco to recommend, please let me know in the comments or by messaging me!
In August I will be attending three music festivals. The weekend of August 12th, The Decemberists will be hosting Traveler's Rest in Missoula, Montana. The weekend of August 26th, I will be traveling to the Project Pabst Festival in Portland, Oregon. I can't believe I am traveling to the States three times this summer to three cities I have never been to, but I am so, so ecstatic. I also can't believe I'll be seeing Iggy Pop in Portland. I hope to see y'all there! If any of my Portland friends want to meet up, hit me up!
The third music festival, which is super, super exciting is an upcoming all-femme music festival (not yet named) in Lethbridge, Alberta. I am super excited to be a part of the collective of the upcoming festival that will be taking place August, 18th, 19th and 20th. I am also super excited to organize the market component which will have all-femme vendors. If you would like to be a part of the market and have a table, that is also something you can message me about! I will be focusing more on designing my own line of enamel pins and pom pom accessories. You can currently shop my current pin designs here (I also have the shop link in my blog menu) and I soon hope to have my pom poms for sale on my Etsy page, along with local markets throughout summer and fall. You can also message me custom pom pom orders and I would be happy to make them.
With the semester being over, and so many great things to photograph this summer, I plan on blogging a lot. I hope to have regular posts consisting of my outfit posts, travel posts, lifestyle posts, fashion and home inspiration, playlists, must-haves, and wishlists. In terms of style, I hope to pull away from solely pinup and true vintage 1940's-1950's looks. I have felt trapped in terms of style and this blog, and have been falling in love with so many other decades and modern fashions, that I now want to break free. I don't think I should be limiting myself and my style to a decade just because I want to be consistent with my past posts. Over the past year of having this blog, my style has radically changed, and there are so many independent designers, small businesses, colours and decade-inspired fashions to embrace. From now on, I hope to share things simply based on the fact that I love them. I hope to share things that bring me joy, and things I hope can bring you joy. I hope to mix it up, have more fun with my clothing, and include lots and lots of colour.
So essentially there is a lot of change and there are a lot of fun things ahead! I will have so much content to share within the next few months. I hope you are as excited for the summer as I am!
